I was hoping you'd chime in!! I dunno what classic stuff should I make sure not to miss? And who are some contemporary people I could possibly see in person?

Really well! I still really like jazz, though I don't know much more about it than I used to.

Mostly I listen to jazz records. That is, when I'm at home, we usually listen to records, and 90% of the time I put on jazz. I don't have many jazz mp3s though, so when I'm away from home, I usually listen to an audiobook or something more modern.

My most listened-to album is definitely The Sidewinder by Lee Morgan. I put that shit on ALL. THE. TIME. Never gets old.

Two Christmases ago Chris consulted some sort of expert and bought me a shit-ton of jazz albums that one HAS to own. So that was pretty cool. I like a lot of stuff that just happened to be recorded at the Newport Jazz Fest? So I really want to go to that. Hopefully this year. I think they actually still have jazz there, as opposed to the one in New Orleans, which seems to be mostly . . . not that. They have bigger mainstream people. (Although I think the clubs go crazy during the Fest, and also maybe the side stages are good? I dunno.)

This year he got me Mingus Ah Um.

I think Miles is still my favorite.

So, yeah! Still diggin' it. Any recs?

1950s jazzy Miles or 1970s funky fusion Miles?
