you mean everywhere?? fine, you come over to east atlantic and try to speed. get your fucking ticket, dry your eyes, and head on home. don't speed in laurel springs.
A'right, dude, easy! No, not *everywhere*. On long, suspicious 25 mph roads, I do indeed tend to observe the speed limit. I had just come in from driving on 42. Cut me some roses, dude, no need to jump all over me. It's early yet.
I have an ongoing debate with myself as to whether or not it's ethical to tailgate/honk at/generally harass people who are driving under the speed limit. It seems I get stuck behind at least one of these people every day. THOSE people should be getting tickets.
i drive under or at the speed limit in pretty much every driving scenario. that is, in fact, why they call it a SPEED LIMIT. it is designed to limit the speed at which motorists drive, thus keeping us all somewhat more safe than we would be otherwise. now, if you think you're too good to follow LAWS, manning, then maybe you should move to some Godless, backwards assfuck nation in Europe where they have no speed limits & everyone smells like a high school locker room. we can't just PICK & CHOOSE the laws we want to obey when they are convenient to us. it would be CHAOS! is that what you want? CHAOS?!??! i think not. you would be torn to pieces by the vicious militant Christians who think people who look like you are servants of the Devil. you'd be hunted down like a dog & shot in the brain, your bloodless corpse left to rot in some alley, gnawed beyond recognition by rabid opossums. i don't think you'd like THAT very much.
You're PROGRAMMED, man! You've been BRAINWASHED by THE MAN! You think THE MAN'S laws are there to help you? You think the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT has your best interests in mind? You think you're FREE? You're not FREE, man! You're a DRONE, a WORKER BEE, a MINDLESS ROBOT, working your life away for THE JEW-NITED STATES OF AMERICA, and ultimately, their ILLUMINATI-CONTROLLED ONE WORLD GOVERNMENT CONSPIRACY. You're just one more cog, built FOR THE MACHINE, BY THE MACHINE. OPEN YOUR EYES!!! WAKE UP!!!
That's just crazy. Speed limits are meant to be broken. It's a socially, and more or less legally, acceptable practice to drive 5 mph over the posted speed limit. I'm not saying you should do a buck twenty in Laurel Springs, but people that drive 55 on 42 are dangerous.
Drive as fast as you want or as slow as you want. Whatever you do, do NOT tailgate. Especially do not tailgate ME. I hate that more than anything in the world. I hate seeing tailgaters, I hate them doing it to me, and I certainly don't do it to other people.
If you're gonna drive fast, accept the basic laws of physics and understand that it will take you a while to slow down. Get off the asses of those around you. Keep bricks handy to chuck out the window in case someone is tailgaiting you.
I always drive 5-15 mph over the speed limit, just enough that I'm speeding but still not fast enough to get a ticket. That sure is damn pansy of me, and I hate myself for it. If I'm going to break the law I should do it ALL OUT, not half-assedly like the big wuss I am. But I suppose I have a lot more money due to lack of speeding tickets, so I will just have to swallow my self-hatred and buy myself something nice with the money not spent on fines.
My logic has always been, drive nine miles over the speed limit, because, if you look at the back of a speeding ticket (in NJ anyway), there's actually a chart telling you how much you owe, based on how fast the officer clocked you going. The first bracket is 0-9 mph over the limit. I theorize that it's not worth a cop's time to pull you over if you're inside of that bracket.
An aside: I think it's great that the bracket includes "0-9" mph over the limit. That means, if I'm going zero mph over the limit, i.e., I'm going the speed limit, I can be pulled over and isued a ticket for speeding. That's awesome.
I guess the didn't wanna call it "0.001-9.000" mph over the limit.
Are you sure it's 0-9 and not 0-14? I'm almost positive you're allowed to go up to fourteen over, before you enter the second, serious tier.
I mean, my whole car technique is based on this fact. If it's forty or higher, I stay at exactly fourteen above the limit, barring outside influences. My whole life would just turn out to have been very, very dangerous, if it turns out I'm only allowed to go nine over the limit.
Pretty sure, but this was probably two years ago, and I was looking at the back of a ticket someone else got. So, I generally trust my memory to be perfect, but there's no real reason you should. I'd hate to be the reason you start driving an extra five mph slower than you need to to beat THE MAN.
In Tennessee the bad stuff happens at 20 over - that's where you're going to get shit for reckless driving. The general rule is that a TN trooper won't pull you over if the ticket would end up being under $100 - so you know if you got pulled over that you just lost a chunk of change.
