You know what kind of rules? Here at work the only graphics program we have to work with is Adobe PhotoDeluxe which I wanted to kick in the balls, if it had had any, a few weeks ago. But I've sucked it up and gotten used to it and it still might be a crappy program, but at least I can make it do what I like. I feel good about that.
